Chamartín Station

Chamartín Station is the second most important train station in Madrid behind Atocha. It is the station in charge of communicating Madrid with the northwest of the Iberian peninsula.

Although the construction of the station was planned in 1933, it was not until 1967 when Chamartín began its railway activity. Between 1970 and 1975 it was remodeled and expanded to become the largest train station in Spain. At the end of the eighties, with the adaptation of Atocha to the arrival of the AVE, Chamartín had to absorb all the rail traffic for six years. In 1992 he returned to the background.

Within the process of urban development in Madrid is Operation Chamartín, which will produce a total change both in the season and in its surroundings.
